We booked The Yard for a midweek birthday celebration after getting a recommendation from a friend. I must say it was better than I expected. The food was super tasty, service was first class, atmosphere for a Wednesday evening was good, nice relaxing music playing in the background when we arrived at 6.45 and the restaurant filled up by 7.45pm it felt trendy and buzzing. We loved the warehouse decor look especially the bronze cutlery and water flasks. We ordered 5 tapas dishes between 2 of us and I think 4 would have been more than enough, you can always add to it if you are still hungry. Well cooked local produce and alcohol, my husband enjoyed his beer and I loved my cocktail "Whole nine yards" Pimm's. Gin and prosecco with lime juice. I also had a dessert, total cost £69 which we felt reasonable for the quality of the food. Something a bit different. We will return. Thanks very much.
Absolutely stunning, went on the of chance had dog intowe got there a little early (had not booked a table) they let us sit down and have a drink (we'd just drove from Cardiff) while they finished setting up for service , it was so good we knew we were coming back in 2 weeks time so we booked again can not recommend the yard enough absolutely gorgeous
Good food, need to remember to add veggies to your order, if you order lamb chops £18, that’s all you get I ordered the salad and chips to make the meal. Flavours good, drink selection good, service okay. Parking at the main car park at the end of the quay. Dog friendly.
We had some of the most gorgeous food at the yard ,staff and owner were exceptionally friendly , sadly our only negative was it took firstly 80 minutes for our platter to come out ,we were booked in for 6 and our food started to come out at 7.20 and then slowly till 7.45 ,then we were told by the owner that we had to be ready to vacate our table by 8 as there would be more guests dining for the second sitting , this basically ruined our relaxing dinner ,we spoke to the waitress who was lovely and she reassured us that she had moved it around and our table wasn't needed till 8.30 now , normally 2 hours would have been ample time , but sadly we had no control over how long the kitchen took to prepare our dishes . Saying this though we would definitely recommend this place , food was delicious
Been coming to Appledore for over 30 years and this is the first ever time we been here (even when it used to be the old Coach & Horses). The staff are all Welcoming and friendly, the food is way out of this world, it so delicious. The food does come in small portions and is more of a sharing/tapas menu, but it’s fabulous! Practically all the food we tried I would recommend, especially loved the Pardon Peppers, Crispy Holsworthy Belly Pork, Yard Buddha Bowl, Thai Fish Cakes, Cajun Fries, and the King Scallops. As we were paying and getting ready to leave, we decided to book a table for next week again as we loved it to much! Also the tips go to charity! Thanks again, Team Yard
